WakeAt Plug-in

Postby ansalvdr » Thu, 09 Mar 2006, 20:21

I'm trying to understand the use of the WakeAt feature and I must be missing something. My test goal is to place the computer into a hibernate state (in my test script 11:55) and then restarted the computer (I'm trying to reboot at 12:05). I can get the machine to shutdown into Hibernate but, it won't reboot. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the help,
Dave

Take a look in nncron.log. I think there might be some interesting errors.

First: wrong task-start symbol '*(' instead of '#('.
Second: There is no 'Reboot' word in nnCron. Forth language is case-sensitive and the right word to use is REBOOT (FORCE-REBOOT).
Third: your hardware (motherboard) might not support the WakeAt: word...

Thanks for the info. I was transcribing from one system to your message board.

I changed "REBOOT" to "FORCE-REBOOT" and I'm re-testing. But, from your remarks my logic was correct. But, I might have a motherboard command issue. I will contact the vendor and see if they support a "WakeAt" call.

You may think about WakeAt as a long PAUSE - the task starts to work again after your PC 'wakes up'. The only thing that I recommend: try to set a pause (for a minute, for example) to let the PC boot up before it will be rebooted... Smth like this:

Code: Select all
WakeAt: 12:05
PAUSE: 60000
FORCE-REBOOT
