Balloons don't disappear when away from the computer...

Postby LuckMan212 » Fri, 08 Jul 2005, 03:51

I think maybe this is a bug (or a feature?) that is inherited from the Windows API but I notice that the following task:

Code: Select all
#( idle_test1
Rule: IDLE: 60
Action:
  5000 BalloonTime !
Balloon "get back to work" "you have been idle for %GetIdleTime% ms"
)#

This task should run after the computer has been idle for about 1 minute, and pop a balloon for 5 seconds, and then the balloon should close. What actually happens is that if the user is away from the desk (no keyboard/mouse movement) then the balloon does not close, it will stay "stuck" open until the mouse is moved again.

However, the following task, accomplishes what was intented, regardless of whether the user is away or not:

Code: Select all
#( idle_test2
Rule: IDLE: 60
Action:
Balloon "get back to work" "you have been idle for %GetIdleTime% ms"
  PAUSE: 5000
  Balloon: "" ""
)#

Is this the way it's supposed to be? Just curious thanks :D

Yes. The BALLOON is closed automatically in specified time only if there is some user activity (mouse clicks). If there are no mouse clicks BALLOON will stay on screen forever. :)
